Slacker! But updates galore!

Sorry, sorry, sorry, I know, I know, I know! Focus is not my strong suit. And wow, it has been almost three months since I last wrote on here. That is actually quite shocking to me! So many fun things to update you on...hmmmmm where to start.

Topic 1: Zepbound!

Well I am officially down 40 freaking pounds. I am still on 10mg at this point and chugging along slowly but surely. I think I started this journey in February of this year so that equates to losing approximately a pound a week. Right on target for healthy weight loss. And no depression to go alongside it. I am about 10 pounds from my pre-depression weight. I finally recognize myself in the mirror again, which is a huge relief. My wardrobe is definitely suffering as I continue to try on and wear large oversized clothes that no longer fit. I'm hoping to wait until spring before buying anything new. I have had to get new jeans because the old ones literally just fell off. Shirts I can kind of still get away with wearing oversized. Plus it is winter now and everything is baggy and cozy anyway :) Interestingly, I just started an ADHD med called Cotempla (which I am so thankful to be taking, huge game changer for me) and it definitely has a hunger suppressant side effect to it. I was just about to go up on my Zepbound before starting it and now I am thinking I may actually reduce my dose. The Cotempla kind of makes me forget to eat and that is no bueno! I will obviously talk to my doctor about it first. The upside to if I can reduce the Zepbound is I may be able to get into the lower price bracket with the lower dose. That would be really something because I really am having a hard time affording the Zepbound. Why take it at all if the Cotempla changes hunger cues too you might ask? Well, because I have been on stimulants before with this side effect, but without the Zepbound, and I would binge eat anyway. Not being hungry never stopped me from eating before. The Zepbound is what regulates that for me. The whole "food noise" concept. And I do not want that noise to come back! So we shall see and I will keep you updated!

Topic 2: Pottery!

My mom got me and my husband pottery classes for Christmas and we started last week! My daughter now knows how to make ramen on her own and is thrilled to stay home alone and feed herself dinner :) Not the most nutritious, but I love the confidence. It feels so good to be back at the wheel! And even better with my husband across from me. This is definitely going to be a lifelong hobby. The goal is still to get a wheel for the new house for the garage. That probably won't be a for a while, but something to look forward to and save up for. Here are a few pics of my last haul of pottery! I am definitely improving and feeling like I can make what I put my mind to. Taking an intermediate class was so neat because we learned new skills like making lidded jars!

Topic 3: Sourdough!!!!

Oh lordy, I joined the sourdough cult! Might be the best ADHD hobby ever. It takes basically two days to make a sourdough loaf and throughout that time you get to set timers to do about 5 minutes of work with periods of down time in between. Breaking up a Saturday like this makes me so much more productive! And the fun of obsessing over the internet and going down rabbit holes over sourdough technique has been very fulfilling. But the best part is eating delicious bread! I have made about 5 rounds of sourdough (2 loaves each bake) and have improved every time. I'm not going to turn this into a sourdough blog, but I am so happy I discovered this hobby as well! TWO hobbies!!! Look at me! It is really boosting my confidence and feels so cool to have something to look forward to and to feel proud of. I have side hustle dreams of baking loaves every weekend for the other families in our new neighborhood. How great would that be?! Here are a few pics of my baking attempts!

first attempt! pretty flat and lumpy but tasted great!
Rosemary Parm loaves, a little more rise!
Best ones so far, parmesan on top for flair

Topic 4: The house!

Well we have certainly made loads of progress. I will post lots of progress pics since I have neglected to update along the way. It has gone so fast and amazingly well. Everyone always says how much of a nightmare building a house is, but (knock on wood) this has been such a good experience! Communication with the builder has been so easy and we have gotten really lucky that timelines with inspectors have gone really well. One county over is backed up for inspections and is adding like months to their other builds. So I am feeling very grateful and oh so excited! And I am proud of myself because we only made one change to the plans! I decided in the end that I wanted a range hood instead of having the microwave over the range. Since we have such a large pantry, I figured we could just put the microwave in there! This changed how the tile layout was going to work so I ended up changing the tile. My daughter is displeased with the choice, but despite that I like it ;)

range hood will be shiplap!
Here is the tile I chose. Hoping it's not too busy in the end!

Here are some progress pics of the house. We finally have siding and dry wall should be going up any day now!

View from kitchen into dining and living area. Lots of good sun!
Very excited about this sun room!!

Unfortunately my Aunt recently passed away. When we visited my cousin for the funeral he asked if we wanted any furniture and I am excited to be able to have some of her things to keep with us. She had a very different style but I'm looking forward to incorporating her items into our home. It will definitely make it feel like home a lot faster! The timeline is still looking like maybe the end of March for a move in date! It has been so cool to watch everything go up. All the real fun is beginning when they start putting in all the finishes. I am really looking forward to what the exterior paint is going to end up looking like. Landscaping is going to really bring it all together. I wish I could've afforded bigger trees, but the little ones will just have to do!

Thanks for hanging in there. Mostly just a lot of updates. Hopefully after the holidays I will get in a good groove of writing about more things...we shall see!

Until then, have a great holiday!
